The Initial Appointment
Please be on time for your initial appointment.
Please flip the light switch corresponding with your provider’s name to alert them of your arrival. Your provider will then greet you in the lobby at your appointment time. Although the initial session is generally sufficient to complete the evaluation, it is sometimes necessary for an evaluation to take part over several weeks. This is determined on an individual basis and discussed during this initial session. It is important that we complete the evaluation prior to beginning treatment. This helps to ensure safe practices and can allows for collection of supplemental information (i.e., contacting previous mental health providers or collateral sources, obtaining labs, etc.) when necessary. If you have past medical or mental health records, including copies of previous laboratory results or other test results, please bring them to the first visit. It is also important to have contact information for your previous mental health providers and other physicians so that we can obtain collateral information, if needed.
Appointments are billed as follows:
- Intake $255
- Medication Follow Up $155
- Weekly Psychotherapy $180
- Pharmacogenomic Consultations $125
Scheduled phone appointments will be subject to the standard charge of an in office appointment of the same duration. Additionally, other professional services that require longer than 30 minutes of time are billed at $155 per 30 minute increment. This includes preparation of disability paperwork, preparation of treatment summaries, or other legal documentation requiring clinical information. Court proceedings and any forensic work (even if required to testify by another party) are billed at $500 per hour. Moreover, the hourly rate for any out of office proceedings (including depositions and court hearings) are based on number of patient hours cancelled to provide this service. These fees are subject to change over time and will be reviewed on a yearly basis. We will also do our best to address this issue on an ongoing basis with the financially responsible party.
When medications are used, prescriptions are generally written to last until the next scheduled appointment. Thus, over-the-phone refills are rarely necessary. This policy is important in order to minimize medications errors and to maximize patient safety. If an appointment must be rescheduled or canceled, we will make every effort to reschedule it in a timely manner and also provide enough medications to last until that next appointment.
Stimulant medications (ie Adderall or Ritalin) and, or benzodiazepines will not be prescribed in the first two sessions. Please make sure you have sufficient medications from your previous prescriber before meeting with Andrena McGroarty.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Payments are due at the time of each visit. For those who pay by credit card, you will be billed the morning of your appointment. This is important because a time slot is reserved for each appointment. Cancellations should always be made at least 24 business hours (or 1 business days) prior to an appointment time. Business hours are considered weekdays and exclude holidays. Cancellations made less than 24 business hours ahead of time and no shows are charged the full session fee. Insurance plans do not commonly reimburse for missed appointments, please take this into consideration, as you will be held responsible for the cost of your missed appointment, even if we are billing insurance for your sessions.
